It is the year 2038, Great Westia, the last bastion for capitalist freedom fighters has fallen, marking the end of the Last War and victory for the Anti-Globalists. The use of nuclear weaponry has terraformed the Earth’s surface and destroyed the ozone layer. The victors are now embroiled in a losing battle between humanity and its own hubris.

Dr. Gunnar Sigurdsson, genius inventor and a Great Westian defector, has erected an artificial ozone dome above the Neue Nova, a safe zone funded and built by MEGACORP. The dome is powered solely by the kinetic energy of humans, androids, and mechs who connect to the IRIS, a tower at the center of the city that converts energy into ozone chemicals. All sentient and non-sentient life forms within the dome must move to maintain the energy threshold, or cyberhumanity falls.

A new post-war society is formed, one under a mandate of perpetual movement, the currency of kineticoins, and a unified cyberhuman goal of collective survival. Dr. Sigurdsson has issued a schedule for designated “walkers”, who uplink to the IRIS and transfer their kinetic energy, each walker is to work 12 hour shifts. He has also offered a reward for cyberhumans who exceed their individual thresholds for 10 consecutive shifts, freedom from perpetual toil.
